Christ First Sports is proud to say the 2010 Baseball Camp was a huge success! Thank you to all of the campers, and volunteers (including all of the coaches) for making it a great day! And a special thank you to San Francisco Giant’s 2nd Baseman Freddy Sanchez and Seattle Mariner’s Pitcher Doug Fister for coming out and instructing the kids! It was a great weekend devoted to glorifying Christ and playing some baseball!

God’s Got It

I find it so challenging (and actually refreshing) when I’m reminded of a biblical truth that I learned years ago. You know, something that I’ve known for a LONG, LONG time but have either become lazy with believing & living according to, or never fully grasped and comprehended it. If you’re wondering, yeah, that happened to me recently and these reminders are starting to become somewhat of a regular occurrence in my life!

Recently, I listened to a sermon in which the pastor reminded us that God is our Father. Yeah, thanks Captain Obvious you might say… However, he then challenged us to think through what that means for us in relation to us being parents.

As a father, I don’t EVER want my kids to worry! I want them to know that “dad’s got it.” Dad is going to take care of it. I want them to run around playing, having a blast, enjoying life, being kids… and NOT worry about A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G!

I would never want my daughter thinking, “I wonder if I’m going to have a place to sleep tonight? I wonder if I’m going to have enough food?” Of course not! That would break my heart!

And yet, I do exactly that to God when I worry.

So, lately, when struck with worry or doubt, I’ve been striving to think the thought- “God’s got it. My Father’s got it. Don’t worry!” And certainly 1 Thessalonians 5:16 takes on a whole new level of meaning and clarity, “Be joyful always.”

Don’t worry! God’s got it!

Softball Tourney Cancelled Due to Weather Conditions

Our 2010 Men’s Softball Tournament has been cancelled for December 18, 2010 due to poor weather conditions. A rescheduled date for this event has not yet been determined.

Football…Finally!

I’ve gotta say, I am loving the fact that the NFL season has started! Its so exciting! Now my fantasy team just needs to get the memo…

FYI, I’m a Bronco fan & it was really cool seeing Shanahan on the sidelines again- even if it’s for a different team! Check out my photo from when I toured Invesco Stadium at Mile High in Denver over the summer.

Regarding CFS (that’s my abbreviation for Christ First Sports) we have some very cool, hip, & interesting t-shirt’s coming soon, not to mention new Flex-Fit hats. If you’ve never worn a Flex-Fix hat, your noggin’ will thank you! Keep an eye out at our events & online for the new merchandise which will be available soon.

Anybody have a pick for the Super Bowl after week 1 of the NFL?

Are you the “One?”

Today in church, Pastor Todd Clark began a new series called “One”. It began with a video of how people came to know Jesus. One guys heard about Jesus from his Dad, another from a neighbor, and another heard about Jesus from a guy he bought a motorcycle from on Craig’s list. You never know who is ready to hear about what it means to be a Christian! Acts 8:30-31 states, “Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.”

It may be nerve-wrecking for some, but God calls us to be disciples of Jesus! This sometimes means putting ourselves out there and asking people questions to see if they need help understanding God’s Word! I challenge you to be the “One” and put yourselves out there so one day someone might be on a video saying that they came to know the Lord because of YOU!

Golf Prizes and More!

Christ First Sports held a great board meeting last night to inform us on all the cool stuff coming soon! Afterwards we switched hats & talked about everything for the golf tourney! All while we crushed good food at Elephant Bar in Simi Valley, California.

Highlights: There will be some awesome authentic MLB jerseys up for auction at our tourney (Jeter, Mauer, Hunter, Pedroia, Weaver); Shawn Parr is hosting the banquet, and there will be cool prizes from Taylor Made… wait, did I mention good food?

I hope we get more sign-ups for the golf tournament soon! Its going to be held on September 27th 2010 at Los Robles and I want that thing FILLED!
